Retatrutide reports ~28% average weight loss in first Phase 3 obesity trial
Eli Lilly has reported topline results from TRIUMPH-1, the first Phase 3 obesity trial of the triple-agonist peptide retatrutide.
Retatrutide acts on three receptors — GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon — distinguishing it from single- and dual-agonist compounds in the same class. According to the company’s announcement, mean body-weight reduction rose with dose: roughly 19% at 4 mg, about 26% at 9 mg, and about 28% at 12 mg at 80 weeks, compared with roughly 2% on placebo, with higher figures cited for a subgroup that continued treatment to 104 weeks. TRIUMPH-1 enrolled adults with obesity or overweight and at least one weight-related condition, but without diabetes.
These are company-reported topline numbers rather than independent, peer-reviewed results, and full data are expected through later publications and additional TRIUMPH trials (including studies in obesity with type 2 diabetes and with established cardiovascular disease) reading out across 2026. The figures are reported here as scientific and regulatory news only; this is not treatment guidance.
